Quick answer
The Rebreather becomes valuable when deeper routes burn oxygen too quickly. Current launch-build reports point players toward wreck routes after unlocking the Repair Tool, including a large wreck northeast of the Lifepod where blocked doors can lead to Rebreather equipment.
How to unlock it
Treat the Rebreather as a follow-up to the Repair Tool path. Scan Rebreather equipment when you find it, then craft it once the recipe appears.
- Craft the Scanner before chasing equipment fragments.
- Unlock the Repair Tool if a wreck door blocks access.
- Check large wreck routes northeast of the Lifepod after repair access.
- Do not push deeper only because you found the blueprint; oxygen and route safety still matter.
Repair Tool path
If a wreck door blocks the route, solve the Repair Tool first. The sulphur route and fully functioning Fabricator path are usually the practical blockers before the Rebreather.
- Collect sulphur from the southeast pillar route if the Repair Tool recipe needs it.
- Use the base Fabricator if advanced tool recipes do not appear in the Lifepod.
- Open blocked wreck doors only when oxygen and return direction are under control.
- Scan Rebreather equipment before leaving the wreck route.
When the Rebreather matters
The Rebreather does not replace oxygen planning. It makes deeper routes less punishing, but you still need enough total air and a return path.
- Use it before exploring deeper wreck, crater, or vehicle routes.
- Pair it with a better tank or Tadpole route when distance becomes the problem.
- Do not treat it as a reason to skip beacons, storage, or base outposts.
- If you are only doing shallow resource loops, finish immediate crafting needs first.
Depth planning
Treat the Rebreather as part of a route plan. Better depth safety is useful only if you also have enough inventory, health, and a clear return path.

Rebreather FAQ
Is the Rebreather required for every deep trip?
Not every trip needs the same equipment. Treat the Rebreather as a depth-safety upgrade when a route starts to push oxygen limits.
